Exercise for ArthritisWhile I’m sure that the last thing you want to do when you are feeling a flareup coming is to exercise that joint, but that might be the best thing you can do to keep the pain at bay.

When you exercise, you release a variety of chemicals from your brain, such as dopamine, endorphins, and adrenaline while you exercise, which can bring a lot of long-lasting relief. By releasing these chemicals on the regular, you will be finding that the pain from your arthritis just isn’t going to be enough to stop you anymore.

Aside from that, exercise will also strengthen the joint that is causing you issues. By exercising the joint, you increase its flexibility and durability, which will give you a little bit of a spring back into it.

You don’t want to over-stress your arthritis during a flareup though, so be sure that you start slow. Knowing your limits will keep you from doing further damage to your sensitive joints and save you a lot of pain and time in the future. Don’t get caught making your already painful condition even worse!

It’s a little bit of a problem if you are prone to a lot of flareups that are leaving you in a bad way.

If you are finding your movement exactly what it should be, but you want to get a little bit of exercise to reap the benefits, go ahead and sign up for the next water aerobics class at the local gym.

You might not be a fan of this, but the water will reduce the impact on your joints, making it easier to move around and let you go for a little bit longer before you must call it a day. So, you’ll get an entire day’s amount of exercise, with all the benefits, but your joints aren’t going to hate you for it! It’s a win-win situation, right?

So, unless your flareup is so bad that you’re stuck where you are, there’s no reason to not try it out!
